Young Artists for Victoria Park Barrambin

We are inviting children and young people up to 16 years of age to create and donate a painting inspired by Victoria Park Barrambin for a special Young Artists’ Wall of Art at our upcoming exhibition.

This is a wonderful opportunity for children and young people to celebrate their love of Brisbane’s green spaces, express what Victoria Park Barrambin means to them, and have their artwork exhibited at Wentworth Galleries alongside the work of established artists.

It is not every day a child gets the chance to see their painting hung in a prestigious public gallery. This special wall will showcase the creativity, care and connection that young people feel for this extraordinary park - and help support the campaign to protect it for future generations.

How it Works

1. Purchase the approved canvas
All paintings MUST be completed on the following framed canvas from Kmart:
12in. x 12in. Stretched Canvas with Wood Frame
Cost: $12

2. Create the artwork
Ask your child/young person to paint something inspired by Victoria Park Barrambin. This could be the trees, wildlife, flowers, open space, city views, memories of visiting the park or simply what the park means to them. The painting does NOT need to be completed at Victoria Park, just inspired by the park.

3. Write your child/young person’s name and their age on the back of the painting (eg. on the wood frame on the back of the picture)

4. Print and fill out THIS REQUIRED FORM

5. Drop off the painting
Completed paintings must be dropped off to:

15 Parkhurst Avenue, Herston
by THURSDAY 16 APRIL (note: due to popular demand, we have extended this date)
(there is a drop off location in the garage - see image below)

6. See it on display
Come to the exhibition on Sunday 19 April and see your young artist’s work exhibited at Wentworth Galleries, 100 George Street, Brisbane alongside painting greats.

These paintings will be priced at $50, or more if requested by parents. Proceeds will go to support the campaign to protect Victoria Park Barrambin.

If a painting does not sell, it can be collected from Wentworth Galleries between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday 19 April.

Please note: By participating in the Young Artists’ Wall of Art, you agree to your child’s painting being donated for sale as part of the exhibition fundraiser. Parents are very welcome to purchase their child’s painting on the day if they wish. Proceeds from all sold paintings will go toward the campaign to protect Victoria Park Barrambin.

Why Get Involved

Victoria Park Barrambin is part of Brisbane’s story, but it also belongs to the next generation.

This is a chance for young artists to proudly show their passion for nature, creativity and public green space, while taking part in a meaningful community exhibition with a real purpose.

By joining the Young Artists’ Wall of Art, your child/young person can -

  • Have their work displayed in a prestigious gallery

  • Contribute to a fine art fundraiser for the park

  • Celebrate their connection to one of Brisbane’s most important green spaces

  • Be part of protecting the legacy of Victoria Park Barrambin for children and future generations

Whether your child/young person loves painting, nature, wildlife or simply creating something beautiful, we would love to include their work in this special exhibition.
