“There are so many mature trees in Victoria Park / Barrambin that are homes to many different species of birds and other animals. Trees like this one take decades to develop these hollows that make perfect nests to those who like to raise their families in them.

It’s beyond belief that a modern civilised city could contemplate destroying a park for a few weeks of the Olympics. I’m also deeply concerned about the destruction of habitat for local wildlife. I hope my paintings of some of the fauna of this precious place speak up for these voiceless creatures.”

Michelle teaches painting workshops in South East Queensland. She has developed a reputation as a painter of quirky animals. Her work celebrates joy, colour and light, often depicting bright and uplifting subjects that reflect her belief in art as both fun and restorative.
