“Although the Welcome Sparrow is also considered a significant species by the Brisbane City Council, it seems they will no longer be welcome at Victoria Park / Barrambin once all the trees are gone and replaced with concrete.
It’s beyond belief that a modern civilised city could contemplate destroying a park for a few weeks of the Olympics. I’m also deeply concerned about the destruction of habitat for local wildlife. I hope my paintings of some of the fauna of this precious place speak up for these voiceless creatures.”
